A little about me
Daniel Turner is in his first year of teaching at Indian Springs Middle School. He teaches the beginning trumpet, horn, trombone, and tuba classes and assists with the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. Prior to Indian Springs, Mr. Turner student-taught in Birdville ISD.
Mr. Turner graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Music Education and a degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of North Texas, studying the trumpet with John Holt–of the Dallas Opera–and conducting with Dr. Andrew Trachsel. While at UNT, he performed with many ensembles including the UNT Wind Orchestra–being recorded by GIA Publications for “Teaching Music through Performance in Band.” He was also involved with UNT’s marching band, the “Green Brigade,” serving as the trumpet section leader and a Field Technician.
Before joining the Indian Springs team, Mr. Turner worked as a visual technician for multiple high schools, including Wakeland High School, Grapevine High School (working with the Indoor Percussion Ensemble), and most recently Hebron High School. During his time with Hebron, the group was the 2021 UIL 6A State Marching Band Contest Champion, the 2021 BOA San Antonio Super Regional Champion, and performed in the 2022 Rose Bowl Parade.
Mr. Turner was also involved in Drum Corps International for several years. He marched a total of five seasons of DCI with groups including the Boston Crusaders, and the Blue Devils. In the summer of 2019, Mr. Turner was awarded the Richardson Music Education Scholarship by DCI.
